Prelude

Parijat : Tree of life 

Once there was beautiful land called TRIBHUVAN. This place was a dense forest all covered by trees, animals & fragrant plants of many kinds. A clan of 7 sages who lived there in small dwellings, protected the place .All of beings lived there in perfect harmony.

Once a group of travellers visited the blessed land to find out the reason behind the prosperity. In the middle of the forest they found a small mountain. On top of the mountain there was a lush green tree with pearl white flowers. The tree was called PARIJAT. They were amazed to find that, whenever a flower would fall someone’s wish is fulfilled. The word spread all around and the place attracted a lot of people. They started building their houses all around the mountain. Soon the Sages realized that this activity will cost a lot in future. They requested the people to move their dwellings outside the forest, but the appeal was ignored by all. Soon most of the sages and animals decided to leave the place. With time the blessed land became more like a busy town. People lived a glorious life for many years and organised many festivals to celebrate their fulfilment. Nobody cared about the loss of forest life and overall balance that earlier prevailed among the Sages, Animals and trees…

One day the entire sky got covered by smothering dark clouds. It rained heavily for days and entire land turned into an ocean .The mountain looked like an island. People were gathered around the tree but they found that there was no more flowers left to make a wish…. Suddenly with pressure of the wind and waves the land below the tree became too weak to the hold the roots. Looking at this people made a number of human chains all around the mountain to hold the land and to save their little island.

After all this got settled the bright sun shined upon the sky. People found that only life left there was the flowerless tree standing tall on the bare mountain and ruins of their houses .They realized that the dreadful blunders they have done have lead them to this state. In deep disappointment they all left the place …

After few days the 7 sages came back to their homeland. With all their knowledge and shear effort they fixed the land and restored the beauty of the land. After a few years animals returned to their very own forest called TRIBHUVAN. Sages were pleased to see that land was getting back to LIFE.

One fine morning the sages found that all the animals are happily gathering around the tree on the mountain. Sages followed them. They were astonished to find that PARIJAT, The tree of LIFE, is blossoming once again after many years. They were all in tears, with no wishes to make when a pearl white flower fell on the land.
